How Follows What is a production studio for New York based filmmaker and photographer, Sam Fleischner.
Fleischner has a keen interest in processes by which things are made, and enjoys taking varied approaches to the craft of storytelling and image making.
He has produced, directed and shot several narrative features and documentaries that have been recognized by major festivals around the globe: Wah Do Dem (2009, 76’). Below The Brain (2011, 60’). Stand Clear of the Closing Doors (2014, 93’). Donald Cried (2016, 90'), So Help Me God (2019, 12').
Additionally Fleischner has made films and videos for major brands, art institutions, and musicians like MGMT and Panda Bear.
Fleischner’s passion for cinema is also manifested through Rockaway Film Festival, which he co-founded in 2018.
